Skyline Medical, Inc. (SKLN)

Skyline Medical, Inc. (SKLN) is the developer of the patented and FDA-approved STREAMWAY System, an automated and eco-friendly surgical waste management system that enables the safe, innovative, cost-effective solution to surgical waste removal. The device virtually eliminates operating room workers’ exposure to blood, irrigation fluid and other potentially infectious fluids found in the surgical environment.

STREAMWAY is installed either in the operating room or on the operating room wall. The device features an illuminated display and touch screen that enables the management of the collection, measurement and disposal of surgical fluids directly into the drain, thereby eliminating the need for expensive surgical containers and reducing disposable solid waste.

Most importantly, the drain-to-drain fluid removal prevents cross contamination and allows for tissue retrieval, protecting workers in the operating room from biohazard exposure. The device’s unlimited capacity and easy cleanup results in labor cost savings for the hospital. With more than 50 total systems being used in the marketplace, Skyline reports positive feedback from medical staffs.

Under the leadership of a management team experienced in pharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical device and other aspects of healthcare, Skyline in 2014 launched a nationwide sales initiative to expand its market reach nationwide. The company wrapped up the month of December with the sale of three units to a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Michigan, and kicked-off 2015 with the sale of a STREAMWAY System to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center where the unit will be placed in Radiology Biopsy Services.
